ArmInfo. Russian peacekeepers accompanied the next convoy with refugees who returned their homes in Nagorno-Karabakh from the territory of the Republic of Armenia. This was announced on January 8 by the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry. The source notes that 181 refugees were delivered from Yerevan to Stepanakert by buses. In total, 47 thousand 834 refugees have already returned to Nagorno-Karabakh to their places of permanent residence. The servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent ensure the safe return of citizens to their places of permanent residence, provide humanitarian assistance, and restore civilian infrastructure. Round-the-clock monitoring of the situation and control over the observance of the ceasefire at twenty- three observation posts is being conducted.
It should be noted that a peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is deployed to control the ceasefire and military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh. The core of the Russian peacekeeping contingent is made up of units of the 15th separate motorized rifle brigade (peacekeeping) of the Central Military District.
