ArmInfo. There are no more COVID-19 patients in Armenia who need hospitalization. Health Minister Arsen Torosyan stated this at a government meeting on December 24.
According to him, for two weeks now there are no patients who are waiting for hospitalization at home. All sick people receive the necessary help at home. Moreover, the process of returning a number of medical institutions to normal activities is underway. The Minister also recalled that in the last 24 hours, 702 new cases of infection were confirmed in the country based on the results of 2,743 tests. In total, currently, 156 thousand people were diagnosed with coronavirus.
Nevertheless, according to the head of the Ministry of Health, the situation is completely under control. The minister urged to observe anti-epidemiological safety measures, especially in winter, when a long stay of people in closed and poorly ventilated rooms can lead to the risk of another wave of coronavirus.
Arsen Torosyan assured that the mortality rate in Armenia from COVID-19 is one of the lowest in the world, and is only 1.5%, while in the whole world it is 7-8%. Even during the most difficult period of the pandemic, the minister continued, the death rate in Armenia did not exceed 2%. Now this figure in the country is even less than 1.5%. This is mainly due to an increase in the detection rate of cases and test capabilities. "Compared to other countries, our situation is one of the best", Arsen Torosyan assured.
