ArmInfo. Mayor of Kajarian city  Manvel Paramazyan was summoned to the Investigative Committee of  Armenia. Parmazyan told reporters that political persecution is being  carried out against him.

He stressed that he did not know for what reason he could have been  summoned to the IC. "I had to leave the combat positions in Syunik  and go to the IC. The authorities do not like people who defend the  borders of Armenia. We're busy defending our borders. And what is the  country's leadership doing in Yerevan? All this is political  persecution, "the mayor emphasized.

In turn, Paramazyan's lawyer Yervand Varosyan said that the mayor of  Kajaran was charged with kidnapping. 8 months ago, a criminal case  was opened against Paramazyan and 3 other residents of Kajaran on on  the fact of kidnapping .

<This accusation has nothing to do with reality. It is far-fetched  and the mayor of Kajaran is not connected with this case. The fact is  that the mayor of Kajaran criticized the government, and everything  that was happening was just political persecution. It is obvious that  Paramazyan has such an ideal reputation that they decided to "hang"  this case on him. It's ridiculous to make such an accusation 8 months  later. The body carrying out the preliminary investigation decided to  submit a petition to the court for the arrest of Paramazyan,  "Varosyan stressed.

Supporters of Paramazyan have already gathered at the building of the  Investigative Committee. To note, Parmazyan opposed Armenian Prime  Minister Nikol Pashinyan and demanded his resignation.
