ArmInfo. At the moment, the priority for the Armenian authorities is to ensure the security of Armenia and Artsakh. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
In his words, the current opposition in Armenia is fighting not for the rights of the people, but for its previous benefits, which it wishes to return. The prime minister believes that the so-called "national elite" wants revenge in order to return those sources of income and power that they lost after the 2018 revolution. Nikol Pashinyan stressed that this is not only about political parties, but about everyone who enjoyed illegal benefits in business and other areas. "The people, who after the revolution felt that they were participating in the formation of power, did not want to lose this right. At the same time, some employers began to put pressure on citizens according to the principle "if you don't come to a rally, you'll be fired. "They allow themselves this, taking advantage of the fact that now the government is focused on solving external problems," Pashinyan said.
Thus, the head of government notes, the real confrontation is not between the government and the opposition, but between the "elite", who have lost their benefits, and the people. "But, one way or another, the people will have the final say. The elite, claiming to return to power, will not be able to do anything against people's will," the prime minister said. According to Pashinyan, he is ready to do everything so that the people do not lose their right to decide the fate of the country. But today the main priority of the authorities is to ensure the security of Armenia and Artsakh, and the country's external security should in no way be called into question.
To recall, today the opposition intends to hold a rally on the Republic Square in Yerevan, at which, as expected, the start of a national strike will be announced. The rally will also be attended by the political forces previously in power - the Republican Party, the Prosperous Armenia Party, the ARF Party and others.
