ArmInfo. The Belgian House of Representatives adopted a resolution condemning the Azerbaijani military aggression against the Armenian population of Artsakh, unleashed by the Turkish authorities with the participation of foreign mercenaries.
The Chamber unambiguously demanded that official Baku withdraw its troops from the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, which was forcibly occupied. According to the Armenian National Committee of Belgium, the resolution of the House of Representatives also condemns the deliberate attacks of Azerbaijan on civilians, the use of cluster munitions and phosphorus bombs.
The preamble to the resolution also refers to the right of the Armenian people of Artsakh to self- determination and non-use of force as the main international principles adopted by the OSCE Minsk Group, which were grossly violated by Azerbaijan.
Since the November 9 statement does not mention the status of Artsakh, the Belgian parliament calls on the government to support the immediate resumption of negotiations under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group, which must decide on the final status of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The resolution calls on the Belgian government to call on Turkey to stop military intervention in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and immediately put an end to its destabilizing position in the South Caucasus. Turkey must stop sending Syrian mercenaries and jihadists to Nagorno-Karabakh and begin their immediate deportation from the region. According to the resolution, any intervention by Turkey in the ceasefire monitoring mission will be considered dangerous to the safety of the local population. Only the OSCE Minsk Group should undertake such a mission.
