ArmInfo.On December 15, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ara of the Republic of Armenia Ara Aivazian received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Konyuk on the occasion of presenting copies of credentials.
As the RA MFA told ArmInfo, congratulating Aleksandr Konyuk on accepting a responsible mission, Aivazian expressed hope that the newly appointed ambassador would contribute to the strengthening and development of the Armenian-Belarusian relations.
The interlocutors exchanged views on steps to be taken to enrich the bilateral agenda between the countries and intensify the existing dialogue at different levels. The parties discussed the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation on international platforms, including the EAEU and the CSTO. Issues of regional security and stability were touched upon.
To note, according to Armenian statistics, the volume of foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Belarus in January-October 2020 amounted to $ 65.6 million - the second place among the CIS countries after Russia. Exports of Armenian goods amounted to $ 14.8 million, imports of Belarusian goods - $ 50.8 million. Exports increased by 14.7% in y-o-y terms, while imports grew by 26.5%.
