ArmInfo.On December 14, RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan received Ambassador of Iran to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri.
Welcoming the Ambassador, the Minister noted with satisfaction that Iran is one of the most friendly countries of Armenia, with which strong trade and economic relations have been established. At the same time, Vahan Kerobyan expressed hope that the framework of the Armenian-Iranian cooperation will expand and strengthen in the near future.
The Iranian Ambassador, congratulating Vahan Kerobyan on taking office as Minister of Economy, noted that there is a great potential for trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and Iran, which has not yet been fully realized. He expressed hope that the Armenian-Iranian economic relations will intensify in the near future, the agreements reached earlier, joint projects and initiatives will be implemented. To this end, the Ambassador proposed to the Armenian side to study the possibility of developing a "road map" for each program and establishing a clear stage-by-stage work schedule.
Among the most realistic directions of the Armenian-Iranian cooperation, Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, in particular, highlighted the areas of plant growing, animal husbandry and fish farming. The Ambassador also stressed the need to strengthen business ties in the economic sector of the two countries, organize exhibitions for business circles in order to exchange experience and hold videoconferences between interested parties. Both sides stressed the need to increase the trade turnover between Armenia and Iran.
The interlocutors also touched upon the prospects of cooperation between the "Meghri" in Armenia and "Araz" in Iran free economic zones, as well as the creation of joint ventures.
Noting that Armenia's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union opens up great opportunities for Iran, the Iranian Ambassador expressed confidence that the creation of joint Armenian-Iranian enterprises will not only contribute to the development of the economies of the two countries, but will also increase exports to the EAEU countries.
Vahan Kerobyan expressed his readiness to take measures to eliminate existing problems within the framework of cooperation between the two countries, as well as to maximize the implementation of bilateral programs.
