ArmInfo.The very significant problems of the security system of Armenia observed today are caused by the lack of diversification. A similar opinion was expressed to  ArmInfo by the head of the Helsinki Civil Assembly Artur Sakunts.

"All these problems surfaced even before the 44-day war. Another 4  years in the days of the April 2016 war.  The impotence of the  current security system clearly manifested itself in those 4 days.  The first retreat of Armenia, conditioned by the absence of strong  security mechanisms, took place precisely following the results of  the April war, "he stressed.

Sakunts is responsible for this state of affairs by the fact that for  all the years of Armenia's independence, its leadership has not taken  real, effective measures towards diversifying the strategic spheres  of the Armenian economy. According to him, we are talking about the  energy sector, communications and other opportunities. As well as  diplomatic and other opportunities for establishing partnerships with  other countries.  "All these years, in every sense and literally in  all directions, only Russia has always been our ally, our partner.  And today Russia, the Russian peacekeeping contingent, has become the  guarantor of security and Artsakh. And ensuring the security of its  own compatriots by Armenia has also become problematic, "he stressed.

According to Sakunts, never in the history of the existence of the  Third  Republic issue, the problem of ensuring the security of  Armenia still has never been as aggravated as it is now. However,  neither the government, nor the opposition, this most important  issue, judging by their last actions, practically does not care. "In  any case, this issue is not even visible on their current agenda.  Security is absent from any political discussion at all. And it seems  that today this problem does not exist at all. At least for our  opposition and for our leadership ", Sakunts summed up.
