ArmInfo.Unfortunately, in the current situation, our society is faced with a choice between bad and worse. A similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by Garegin Miskaryan, a member of the executive body of the social-democratic party "Citizen's Decision".
“Speaking about the current situation, I mean it is conditioned by the efforts of both the“ former ”and the“ current ”. Both are trying in any way to keep the healthy political forces of Armenia in the shadows. And this is in the current environment. The problem of society, our problem is that if we go out into the street, we will get the return of the "former". If we do not leave, then we will indirectly express our support for the current government. Meanwhile, the society today has problems with her too, ”he stressed.
Against this background, Miskaryan found it difficult to forecast further actions by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. In his opinion, the prime minister had many grounds and reasons for his resignation even before the opposition ultimatum. And it is simply impossible to guess the reason that might induce him to resign today. The politician only hopes that all the processes, the struggle between the “former” and the “current” will do without direct clashes in the street, especially accompanied by bloodshed.
Assessing the overall situation as far from encouraging, Miskaryan in such critical conditions assesses the likelihood of the threat of street clashes as quite high. At the same time, he expressed his conviction that in such a case, no one will emerge from them as a winner. Everyone will lose. The whole society.
“I don't know if the ruling force and its opponents on the street have an understanding of all this. Our party has repeatedly tried to show the parties the way towards a compromise. However, all our attempts, unfortunately, were unsuccessful. After all, the street is far from homogeneous. After all, all these people do not act on orders from one center. In this light, there may well be people among the protesters who are capable of getting out of control, ”he said.
In this light, Miskaryan noted the statement of Vazgen Manukyan about the readiness of the “angry crowd to tear up Nikol Pashinyan”. The politician considers this statement as a message to people on the street about the possibility of such actions. In this light, Miskaryan expressed his conviction in the inadmissibility of playing people off, their withdrawal against each other.
“Today Armenia has more important, more urgent problems that need to be solved already today. Accordingly, we need to focus on them. In this light, we call on Prime Minister Pashinyan and Vazgen Manukyan to show a greater degree of political foresight and focus on steps to withdraw the country from the current situation, ”the politician concluded.
