ArmInfo. Today RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (ESCS) Vahram Dumanyan received a delegation led by US Ambassador Lynne Tracy.
The interlocutors exchanged views on issues related to programs implemented in the fields of education, science, culture and sports, and discussed the possible expansion of cooperation.
The Minister drew the attention of the US Ambassador to the numerous facts of Azerbaijan's destruction of the Armenian historical and cultural heritage on the territory of Artsakh during the war and after the war.
"At present, the Armenian cultural and religious monuments under the control of Azerbaijan are being destroyed and subjected to acts of vandalism. The policy of cultural genocide grossly violates international norms and contradicts universal human values," the Minister said. Dumanyan added that he expects the support of the US Embassy in initiatives to preserve the tangible and intangible heritage of Armenian culture in Artsakh.
Lynne Tracy thanked the Minister for the reception, noted the readiness of the United States for further cooperation and wished Armenia to overcome the difficulties of the post-war period as soon as possible. The Minister and the ambassador also touched upon the ongoing reforms in the sectors of education, science, culture, sports, and also discussed issues related to the reform strategy of the so-called inclusive education. Minister noted that the necessary steps are being taken to ensure sustainable development in these areas, and in this regard, further strengthening of cooperation with the United States is underway. During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
