ArmInfo. In the coming hours, representatives of the Armenian opposition will announce a plan for further actions, and today, on December 8, the actions demanding the resignation of the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country Nikol Pashinyan have been completed.
At the end of the rally, the Movement to Save the Motherland also appealed to the Ombudsman of Armenia with an appeal to pay attention to the facts of disproportionate use of state coercion, illegal administrative detentions and disproportionate use of force by the Police against dozens of citizens who are holding peaceful actions today.
"Numerous peaceful demonstrators and protesters are now unreasonably detained in different departments of the Armenian Police, their fundamental rights and freedoms are limited. The actions of the Police against the latter violate a number of articles and provisions of the laws "On the Police", "On the Basics of Administration and Administrative Proceedings", "On Freedom of Assembly", thereby violating the Constitution and the spirit of the rule of law, which is unacceptable.. We call on the Ombudsman of Armenia Arman Tatoyan, within the framework of his powers, to take all the necessary actions to prevent and establish lawlessness to ensure effective protection of fundamental human rights and freedoms."
To note, the participants in the disobedience actions first blocked many avenues and streets of the capital, and then headed towards the buildings of the government, the Prosecutor General's Office and the National Security Service. The work of the Yerevan metro was also paralyzed, which resumed work at 4:00pm. The protests were held in other regions of the country too. According to the data of the RA Police, 34 activists were brought under arrest during the actions. On December 8 at 12:00, the deadline given by the opposition to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to resign expired. The Armenian Apostolic Church also called on Pashinyan to resign.
