ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan met with the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), headed by Martin Schuepp, ICRC Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reports.
According to the source, the meeting discussed the return of prisoners of war and captured from Azerbaijan to Armenia, as well as the search for missing citizens. The parties confirmed their readiness to take urgent measures in this direction. The RA Foreign Minister expressed concern about the numerous cases of inhuman and degrading treatment of prisoners of war, as well as the facts of torture by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces against the civilian population of Artsakh and Armenian prisoners of war. The meeting also touched upon the issues of overcoming the humanitarian crisis caused by the Azerbaijani aggression, in particular, support for the Armenians of Artsakh who suffered as a result of the war, the restoration of civilian infrastructures, as well as providing emergency assistance to refugees returning to Artsakh.
Ara Ayvazyan highly appreciated the efforts of the ICRC in this direction, confirmed the readiness of the Armenian side for further close cooperation in order to increase the effectiveness of the humanitarian response.
