Newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Armenia, Nicolaas Jacob Schermers, expressed his readiness to identify and realize the potential for cooperation between the countries in areas of mutual interest. He stated this during a meeting with the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan.
Congratulating Schermers on accepting a responsible mission, Suren Papikyan expressed hope that despite the difficult post-war situation in Armenia, the newly appointed Ambassador will contribute to the expansion and development of the economic and political agenda of bilateral relations. At the same time, the minister stressed the importance of the opening of the Netherlands Embassy in Yerevan in terms of increasing the level of cooperation with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures.
Presenting to the Ambassador the roadmap of the RA government aimed at mitigating the consequences of the Artsakh war, the Minister pointed out the importance of possible cooperation with friendly countries in programs for the provision of humanitarian aid and repatriation of citizens displaced from Artsakh.
According to the source, the interlocutors discussed the results of successful interaction with the migration service, in particular the progress registered in the readmission processes with the Dutch side within the framework of the readmission agreement between Armenia and the EU. The parties also discussed issues related to the exchange of experience in the areas of territorial administration, local self-government and the process of administrative-territorial reforms.
