ArmInfo. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian stated that he does not intend to be the Prime Minister of Armenia. Sarkissian stated this in an interview with Public Television.
He noted that 25 years ago he was prime minister, but now he is president and he has clear obligations to the people of Armenia. Sarkissian noted that in the parliamentary republic his powers are somewhat limited and he cannot use all his potential for the benefit of the people of the country.
At the same time, according to the President, now there is a political and economic crisis in Armenia. Moreover, the international attitude towards Armenia and the Karabakh issue has worsened, which is exactly what Azerbaijan has been striving for over the past 30 years.
According to the President, all Armenians of the world suffered a strong moral- psychological blow. Sarkissian stressed that, in his opinion, the institution of the president should become a platform where the opposition and the authorities can discuss topics of concern to them, and resolve all issues through negotiations. In conclusion, the President stated that he is ready to cooperate with any government and cabinet, stressing that he would be glad to use all his potential for the good of Armenia.
