ArmInfo. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan decided to boast of "successes" in Nagorno-Karabakh in front of his associates. Thus, Erdogan said at a meeting of the parliamentary faction of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) that it was thanks to Turkey's support that an end to the "Armenian occupation" in Karabakh was put.
However, it is unclear, in this way he wanted to publicly demonstrate Ankara's open participation in the Karabakh conflict, which is a direct violation of international norms, or he wanted to downplay the role and capabilities of Azerbaijan in the military aggression against Artsakh. "For the first time, hopes for a sustainable settlement have increased," the Turkish president said.
At the same time, Erdogan did not calm down on this, adding that the statements of a number of the co- chairing countries of the Minsk Group under the agreement (trilateral agreements of November 9, Ed. note), which "did not show themselves in any way until recently and expressed open support for the Armenian side, do not matter ". Apparently, the Turkish leader with this statement wanted to once again offend France, relations with which Turkey has recently experienced a crisis.
At the same time, the Turkish leader drew attention to a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the eve, during which it was possible to comprehensively discuss the implementation of the agreement on Karabakh. According to the head of the Turkish state, Russia-Turkey-Azerbaijan will take all the necessary steps to achieve peace in the region. "We also have a chance to develop this process. We also discussed with Mr. Putin the work on expanding and developing [the ceasefire] with other countries in the region. If we add a fourth or fifth regional country to the three states, a different state of affairs can be achieved" , Erdogan noted.
