ArmInfo.The working visit of Armenian President Armen Sarkissian to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan started with a meeting with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan.
As the press service of the RA President reports, after the bilateral meeting, negotiations in an expanded format followed.
Welcoming Sargsyan to Jordan, Abdullah II noted that the two countries are united by strong friendly and historical ties.
It was noted that Armenia today faces numerous challenges, and as a good friend, close interaction and assistance is expected.
Sargsyan expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, words of support and readiness to develop cooperation between the two countries in all possible areas. "There is mutual trust and we can work for the future. In difficult moments it becomes clear who your real friend is," the RA President said, expressing his conviction that there is a way out of any difficult situation, and assured that all previously planned projects will be implemented into life, greater cooperation will be established.
The parties, in the context of realizing the potential of relations, expressed their readiness to promote bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation.
The interlocutors agreed that Armenia and Jordan can successfully cooperate in such areas as information technology, education, science, healthcare, food security, tourism. The experience of Jordan's work with internally displaced persons can also be useful for Armenia.
The meeting also touched upon issues related to efforts to combat the new type of coronavirus, as well as its socio-economic consequences. Mutual concern was expressed over emerging international and regional issues, in particular those related to efforts to bring peace to the Middle East.
Sargsyan spoke in detail about the consequences of the Azerbaijani military aggression against Artsakh, and in this context about the current situation. The Jordanian side noted that it has used its connections and authority in the international arena to facilitate efforts to establish peace.
