ArmInfo.Armenia"s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the Defense Ministry and introduced newly appointed Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan to the staff of the Ministry of Defense.
As the press-service the RA PM reports, Pashinyan has thanked the former minister David Tonoyan for their work and wished success Vagharshak Harutyunyan.
"We must seriously analyze what happened in order to understand where we made a mistake, why and what conclusions to draw. And, in general, it is obvious that we are faced with the need to reform the army and the Armed Forces. And another question is, according to what logic should these reforms take place, according to what schedule they should run, what issues to raise.
It is very important that, without harming healthy and competitive traditions, the logic of our army and the Armed Forces, we will be able to build a new logic, new tactics, a new strategy that will bring success to our army and our Armed Forces. Because the Armed Forces, the army are the guarantors of our country's security," the prime minister said.
Tonoyan recalled in his farewell speech that he had already made a statement in which he outlined his position and approaches. "We have problems that require immediate solutions," he said, expressing his readiness to assist the new minister on all necessary issues.
New Defense Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan noted that in the current military-political situation it is necessary to take appropriate steps. According to him, the situation is connected with Turkey's activities in the region, with the peacekeeping mission of the Russian Federation and the situation created after the war. At the same time, he expressed confidence that in a short time it is possible to prepare a new package of reforms.
