ArmInfo.Russian President Vladimir Putin is interested in keeping Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in power in Armenia. A similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by Russian political scientist Arkady Dubnov.
"The Kremlin is well aware that as a result of the forceful displacement of Pashinyan, an openly anti- Russian or even more pro-Western politician may well end up in the prime minister's chair. This is one of the messages that came out in Putin's yesterday's interview on Russian television. With his story about Pashinyan's refusal from the ceasefire allegedly offered to him on October 20, Putin took Pashinyan under his protection, accused by his opponents of treason, '' he stressed.
The Russian political scientist considers the second important point in Putin's speech to be a clear message about the need to determine the future status of the rest of Artsakh. Even the Russian president in a very harsh manner dismissed the attempts of the Turkish president to place Turkish peacekeepers in Artsakh on a par with Russian ones. Remarkably, in this light, the rationale looked - the Armenians will perceive the presence of the Turks as a reminder of the Turkish Armenian genocide of 1915.
Commenting on the motivation of the Russian president and the time period of the above-mentioned statements, Dubnov highlighted the meeting of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs scheduled for today in Moscow. He also stressed that the purpose of the meeting of representatives of Russia, the United States and France is to discuss the future status of Artsakh in the conditions of the Russian peacekeepers already there. According to Dubnov, thus, Russia's colleagues in the Minsk Group will be forced to accept the new, albeit temporary, status quo established by Moscow in cooperation with Ankara.
