ArmInfo. Active work is underway to create mechanisms for the exchange of prisoners of war and bodies of those killed. This is stated in a statement issued by the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
The Ministry states that the trilateral agreement reached between the Prime Minister of Armenia and the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan to end the war unleashed in Artsakh on September 27, and the deployment of a Russian peacekeeping brigade to monitor compliance with the ceasefire regime in the Karabakh conflict zone, create an opportunity to clarify the fate of military personnel and civilians captured during hostilities, or those whose whereabouts are still unknown, as well as for the exchange of bodies. "The Ministry of Defense of Armenia is ready to provide all-round assistance to the Russian peacekeeping contingent during the mission. Active work is already underway with the leadership of the peacekeeping mission and with representatives of the ICRC to create applied mechanisms for the exchange of prisoners of war and the bodies of those killed, as well as for the implementation of this process in a short time.
The Servicemen's Insurance Fund in due course began paying compensations to the families of servicemen who were wounded or killed after September 27. Work is underway to simplify the legal framework for the missing, as well as to simplify the current procedure for paying compensation to the families of wounded or killed servicemen and to develop legislative initiatives to reduce the terms of providing compensation, "the RA Ministry of Defense emphasized.
