David Tonoyan: Armistice agreement is the best solution at that time

On November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan,  Vladimir Putin, Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev, adopted a joint  ceasefire statement, which entered into force on November 10. Within  the framework of this agreement, Armenia makes a number of  territorial concessions. Yerevan undertook to transfer the Kalbajar  region to Baku by November 15, the Aghdam region by November 20, and  the Lachin region by December 1. All the territories occupied during  the war remain with Azerbaijan. Lachin corridor - 5 km wide, will  provide communication between Artsakh and Armenia under the control  of Russian peacekeepers, who will also be deployed along the line of  contact in Artsakh.

"Military operations have been suspended, Russian peacekeepers are  deployed very quickly along the borders of Artsakh and along the  entire length of the contact line. In light of the deployment of  Russian military personnel, this agreement was the best option,  prepared in a short period of time. We are grateful to Russia for its  assistance, - he noted.

According to the minister's estimates, the Armenian army had to fight  not with Azerbaijan, but with a completely new geopolitical situation  that went beyond the region. Since Turkey was involved in the  hostilities, which transferred a huge amount of equipment to Baku in  July-August. And in this war of the 5th generation, the Armenian  army, in his opinion, did the impossible, destroying 6-7 drones per  day, and a large number of enemy equipment. Thus, the struggle was  not with Azerbaijan, but with its allies and suppliers, who supplied  it in huge quantities.

In this war, according to Tonoyan's estimates, the Armenian army  provided the society with real information about the heroic actions  of artillery, air defense, electronic warfare, and infantry units.   Statements were also made to support society and the army. In this  light, the minister considered the charges in betrayal against the  background of the tripartite statements on Artsakh as offensive.  According to him, the army, the entire system of the Ministry of  Defense with the military and civilians, the entire mobilization  resource, the government, the Diaspora did everything in the  direction of achieving success.  Nevertheless, according to Tonoyan's  estimates, the situation was dictated by the geopolitical situation.  In which the Armenian military acted within the framework of a total  blockade of the supply of weapons and military equipment. In this  light, he assesses the actions of logistic support and equipment  supply as heroic, given that the Armenian privates and generals  confronted the powerfully equipped Azerbaijani army in the conditions  of its obvious support from Turkey and thousands of terrorist  mercenaries.
