ArmInfo. Unfortunately, the situation in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains difficult, the military confrontation continues. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during the weekly briefing.
At the same time, she added that in order to achieve an early de-escalation of the conflict and restart the negotiation process, vigorous efforts are being made on the Russian side both at the national level and within the OSCE Minsk Group.
Zakharova recalled that the President of Russia holds regular telephone contacts with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Karabakh conflict was discussed by Vladimir Putin with his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan. According to her, the Russian Foreign Minister discussed this issue with colleagues from Turkey and France.
"We are deeply concerned about the ongoing military operations in the Karabakh conflict zone, the increasingly large-scale involvement of foreign mercenaries from the Middle East in fighting. The expenditures for the economies and societies of the warring parties have increased significantly. We are convinced that there is no alternative to a peaceful solution to the problem. It is necessary to resume talks within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group efforts, "Zakharova said.
Recalling the Washington agreements between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, reached following the October 23 talks, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed regret that the next attempt to end hostilities within the deadline set by the international community (October 26 at 08.00) was unsuccessful. "To discuss further steps, an agreement was reached on the next meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs in Geneva on October 30," Zakharova summed up.
