Politician: The logic and content of the Artsakh negotiations are in  the past

ArmInfo. The logic and content of the negotiating table on the settlement of the conflict around Artsakh are in the past. Suren Sahakyan, secretary of the social-  democratic party "Citizen's Decision" expressed a similar opinion to  ArmInfo.

The politician recalled that discussions around the principle of  "territory instead of status" in the negotiations on Artsakh have  been going on since their inception. And until recently, the  leadership of Armenia has always publicly agreed to such an option.  Moreover, Serzh Sargsyan expressed his readiness to sign the  document, which later became known as "Lavrov's plan".

"However, both then and today, Azerbaijan, according to Sahakyan,  rejects this plan. And today the problem of Artsakh is being solved  on the battlefield. Good or bad is another question. Today's reality  is completely different. And we must accept it. that the problem will  have to be solved not by diplomats, but by the military, it will have  to be solved by two armies. The Minsk Group should not expect  anything other than an equidistant position, "he stressed.

In this light, according to Sahakyan's estimates, the end of the war,  moreover, the lack of prospects for its resumption in the future,  entirely depends on the success of the Armenian army. The latter  requires from the Armenian people, moreover, in all countries, a  united will to victory and efforts to strengthen the rear of the  army. And of course, the absence of any actions aimed at introducing  a split in society.

Commenting on the prospect of deploying peacekeepers in the conflict  zone, Sahakyan described it as also an obsolete topic. He explains  the latter by the obvious discrepancies between Yerevan and Baku on  the issue of the proposed composition of the peacekeeping contingent.  "Let's get rid of illusions. The outcome of the war will be decided  by the victory of one of the armies. After that, the defeated army  will take a lot of time to prepare for a new war," he stressed.

"And we should do everything to make it our army. We simply have no  other choice. Another important circumstance. The winner will no  longer negotiate with the current leader of the losing side.  Accordingly, our victory will replace the current regime in  Azerbaijan. the next freeze of the conflict in the current situation  will only lead to a new arms race, preparation for a new war and, as  a consequence, to this very war in the near future, "the politician  summed up.
