ArmInfo. Azerbaijan once again did not heed the calls for a ceasefire, this time proposed by the French side. Representative of the Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan stated this on October 18 at a briefing in Yerevan.
According to him, from early in the morning, hostilities continued in the same directions as the day before. First, the enemy attempted an attack in the northern direction, he was defeated and thrown back. At the same time, the enemy could not achieve any significant success. At the same time, in the southern direction in two separate sectors, the enemy attempted to deploy attacking actions. In one of the sectors, being under a powerful blow from the Armenian artillery, the enemy fled, losing a significant amount of equipment and ammunition. In another sector, fierce fighting continued, as a result of which the enemy managed to advance somewhat. In this war, which uses a high fire density, as Hovhannisyan noted, it is irrelevant to use successes and failures in certain positions. A war is going on with the use of technologies and equipment of the fifth generation, by mobile groups, and the tactical lines of individual combat operations are not being maintained.
Throughout the day, the Azerbaijani armed forces again used various air attack weapons, including UAVs. According to the situation at 20.00 on October 18, 9 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles were knocked out, of which 2 were on the territory of Armenia. At present, as Artsrun Hovhannisyan noted, the hostilities continue. They are especially difficult in the south.
