ArmInfo. Covering up an overt Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression against Karabakh, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan began to mix up the addresses of arms supplies.
Thus, as reported by TASS, on Sunday he made a statement that Russia, the United States and France are supplying weapons to Armenia. "How do they respond to our support of our Azerbaijani brothers? What do the Minsk co-chairs: USA, Russia, France say? They support Armenia. They provide Armenia with all kinds of support in the form of weapons," the Turkish leader said.
At the same time, he forgot to "mention" the 100 million US military aid to Azerbaijan, the 5 billion agreements with the Russian Federation for the supply of weapons, about selling weapons to Azerbaijan by France on 190 million EUR in 2019.
Now in limbo is another major arms treaty with Paris, which is presented as "purely defensive". Azerbaijan may purchase French missiles MBDA, a subsidiary of Airbus, BAE Systems and Leonardo. The matter concerns the ASTER-30-SAMP / T complex of medium and long range, as well as the Vertical Launch-MICA defense system. Although these highly effective systems are not considered "offensive" weapons, they can ensure the security of Baku by neutralizing Armenian missiles and thereby change the balance of power. The deal is estimated at 1-3 billion EUR.
