
ArmInfo.The existential threat to the people of Artsakh can be prevented only by international recognition and implementation of their right to self-determination. Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mher Grigoryan stated this during a meeting with the head of the Armenian mission of the European Union Mrs. Andrea Wiktorin.
As reported by the press service of the government, the Deputy Prime Minister presented to the EU Ambassador to Armenia the open aggression against Artsakh and Armenia, carried out by Azerbaijan with the direct support of Turkey and with the participation of foreign terrorists brought by Turkey. At the same time, he spoke about the cases when the civilian population of Artsakh and the infrastructure of vital importance became the target of hostilities with the use of prohibited types of weapons.
Mher Grigoryan noted that the war crimes committed by Azerbaijan and Turkey, in particular the transfer of terrorist groups to the region and the shelling of civilians, cannot remain unanswered by the international community. The Deputy Premier also stressed that the humanitarian catastrophe threatening the region can be prevented only through the proper response of the international community to the criminal actions of Turkey and Azerbaijan.
It is reported that during the meeting Mher Grigoryan expressed gratitude to Mrs. Wiktorin for constructive cooperation. The parties expressed satisfaction with the entry into force of 2 EU budget assistance programs for Armenia - " Support for Judicial Reform in Armenia: Stage I> and <Treaty of Armenia on Countering the COVID-19 Pandemic>.
Mher Grigoryan also noted that, despite the martial law and the epidemiological situation with the coronavirus, the Armenian government continues to focus on the work on the implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between Armenia and the European Union.
