Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko and Deputy Secretary General of the EU Foreign Policy Service Enrique Mora discussed the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh and stressed the need to observe the ceasefire, an agreement on which was reached by the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides in Moscow on October 10.
"On the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, the need to observe a humanitarian truce was emphasized, an agreement on which was reached in Moscow at the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin on October 10," the statement of the Russian diplomatic department circulated on October 15 following the consultations held on the eve reads.
On October 9-10 in Moscow, at the initiative of the Russian side, trilateral negotiations were held between the Foreign Ministers of the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan and Armenia Sergey Lavrov, Jeyhun Bayramov and Zohrab Mnatsakanyan. As a result of more than ten hours of consultations, Baku and Yerevan managed to agree on a ceasefire from 12:00 local time in October for humanitarian purposes for the exchange of prisoners and bodies of the dead, but the Azerbaijani side continued large-scale attacks.
