ArmInfo. Turkey will end the war against Artsakh people under pressure. Already today I assess such a scenario as quite probable. Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Academician Ruben Safrastyan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
"The aggressiveness of Turkey and Azerbaijan can be curbed not only by Russia, but also by the consistently growing international pressure. On the example of Canada, we see that sanctions are already being introduced against the over-premature Erdogan's Turkey. And I don't see any particular signs of leniency towards Turkey on the part of that Europe. Everyone understands and sees Erdogan's insolence and adventurism, and not only in relation to the Artsakh people, "he stressed.
All the recent aggressive actions of Recep Erdogan in the Middle East, North Africa, and now in the Caucasus, the academician sees as evidence of his extensive, maximalist plans. The latter go all the way to the re-creation of the Ottoman Empire. At the first stage of such Napoleonic plans, Erdogan, according to the Turkologist, intends to turn Turkey into a large, independent decision-making power.
However, given Turkey's lack of sufficient economic resources for such a swing, Erdogan, according to Safrastyan's estimates, is trying to achieve his plan, unleashing more and more wars. Thus, he is trying to increase geopolitical capitalization, respectively, the weight of Turkey. And in the same war in Artsakh, Azerbaijan and its President Aliyev, in the academician's opinion, play in the games of Erdogan's Turkey exclusively as a pawn.
"Thus, Erdogan's Turkey already poses a serious threat to international security. I think that the countries of the collective West are well aware of this. Taking into account its geography, Turkey, of course, plays a certain role in the geopolitics of a number of European countries and, of course, the United States. I am less sure that sanity will prevail in geopolitics. I am also convinced that the adventurous and brutal Turkish- Azerbaijani aggression will end in a final and shameful failure for its initiators, "Safrastyan summed up.
