ArmInfo. Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan to return to peace talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, while calls on other countries to end military participation in the outbreak of the conflict.
According to Linde, the development of events is alarming, the large number of deaths due to the aggravation of the conflict, including among the civilian population, is regrettable. "And now the most important thing is that the hostilities stop immediately and the parties return to the negotiating table," said the Swedish Foreign Minister.
It is also reported that Lindh planned to visit Yerevan and Baku these days, but it was decided to refuse the visit due to the escalation of the situation in the region and the insecurity of the airspace. However, the Swedish Foreign Minister talked with her colleagues from Armenia and Azerbaijan, who have different views on who bears the brunt of the escalation of the conflict.
According to her, from January 1, Sweden will take over the chairmanship of the OSCE, which means that it has a very big responsibility in this matter.
Touching upon the issue of the transfer of mercenaries by Turkey to the conflict zone, Lindh expressed her conviction that the main thing now is for the parties to sit down at the negotiating table again and that no other countries interfere in this conflict by providing military support to the parties.
"You must immediately stop hostilities and return to the negotiating table," said the Swedish Foreign Minister.
