ArmInfo. Politicians in Armenia and Azerbaijan must heed the statements of the leaders of the Russian Federation, the United States and France on Nagorno-Karabakh. Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachev wrote about this on his Facebook page . "I consider the statement of the presidents of Russia, the United States and France on Nagorno-Karabakh not only important, but is a unique document. If we take into account, first of all, the political and diplomatic background against which the leaders of the three countries managed to agree on coordinating positions on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. And this background is unfavorable to such an extent that many could suspect the absence of dialogue between the three countries in principle.
That is why the common position voiced by the three leaders on one of the most acute international problems, condemning the escalation of violence, calling for an immediate end to hostilities and the resumption of negotiations on the merits without setting preconditions, is important not only for the conflict itself. This is an indicator that international diplomacy is still alive, that the community is ready to respond to challenges, that there are topics that unite such different countries, helping to set aside contradictions.
And instead of the politicians of Azerbaijan and Armenia, I would listen carefully to the position expressed in the statement. Ii points out quite harshly that there will be no approval and support for those who are responsible for the continuation of hostilities and casualties among the population. And here it will not work, in particular, to play out the theme of contradictions between Russia and the West, on which some third countries are already trying to speculate. A strong move from world leaders, and this inspires hope for the normalization of the situation in the region," he said.
