As reported by the press service of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, within the framework of the initiated criminal case, factual data were obtained that a citizen of the Republic of Armenia serving in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, who, by the relevant order of the Minister of Defense, held responsible positions in different years, collected and transmitted information containing state secrets to representatives of a foreign organization, provided other assistance for the implementation of hostile actions, to the detriment of the territorial integrity and external security of the Republic.
The RA NSS also reported that the person involved in the criminal case, being on the territory of Georgia, was noticed by the Azerbaijani special services operating in this country, was recruited by them and received specific instructions on the transfer of information about the RA Armed Forces, including in terms of personnel weapons, ammunition, the number and types of military equipment, etc., that is, the implementation of espionage to the detriment of the Republic of Armenia.
"After that, the abovementioned person, having been in the ranks of the RA Armed Forces for many years, having official permission to access classified information, began collecting such information, bearing responsibility for their leakage, and realizing that in the event of leakage of this information, this would damage the country's security. Using connections with the officers of Artsakh and the RA Armed Forces, he regularly met with the latter, was interested in specific actions carried out by the units, etc., collected data, and then regularly traveled from the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Georgia. By scouts both in the Azerbaijani embassy and outside it, he transferred the collected information to them in parts, followed the instructions of the enemy special services to the detriment of the security of the Republic of Armenia, "the report of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia says.
