ArmInfo. On September 28, Armenia's Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan sent a letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, in which he presented the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh.
As reported by the RA MFA press service, the Minister presented data on cases of targeted shelling of the civilian population of Artsakh, infrastructure, provocative actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces using weapons of various calibers. Referring to the flow of misinformation voiced by the enemy, the Foreign Minister noted: "The aggression was planned in advance, the statements of the Azerbaijani side about the alleged counterattack are absolute lies. Azerbaijan has never hidden its strategic goal of a military settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, continuing to maintain tension along the Line of Contact and the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border. "
The Foreign Minister expressed deep concern over Turkey's unconditional unilateral support for Azerbaijan's aggression. Strongly condemning the aggression of Azerbaijan, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan stressed that provocative actions aimed at violating the ceasefire are not only a gross violation of international humanitarian law, but are also fraught with the risk of escalating into a full-scale regional war. He criticized the provocative actions of Azerbaijan in response to the call of the UN Secretary General for a global ceasefire. The head of the Foreign Ministry stressed that all responsibility for the aggression lies with the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan.
The Armenian Foreign Minister noted that as the guarantor of the security of the people of Artsakh, Armenia will take all necessary measures to protect the inalienable rights of the people of Artsakh and will give an adequate response to the aggression of Azerbaijan. "The right of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh to self-determination is an integral part of the settlement of the conflict, by virtue of this right the people of Artsakh should be able to determine their status without any restrictions," the letter says.
The Foreign Minister confirmed Armenia's commitment to an exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict. The letter will be circulated as a document of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.
