ArmInfo.Armenophobia has always been at a high level among the Azerbaijani population, but now it is intensively gaining an increasingly more systemic character, especially in social networks. Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan stated this on September 29 during a briefing.
He said that today specially prepared videos are being distributed on social networks that sow panic and fear among the population, and call for violence and murder. The Ombudsman called the social network Tik-Tok the most dangerous from this point of view, where it is impossible to control the content uploaded by Azerbaijani and Turkish sources, and of which children are also users.
Tatoyan urged parents to protect their children from using this social network, since the uploaded videos use episodes from the April war, or footage that has nothing to do with Armenia and Artsakh. In addition, he noted that a number of newly created profiles with Armenian names and surnames were identified, as well as communities that spread disinformation. The Ombudsman stressed that calls for hatred, violence, murder sound in the same logic that took place during the April war and the July battles.
During the briefing, Tatoyan also strongly condemned the targeted military actions against the civilian population of Artsakh and Armenia. <I spoke with the Ombudsman of Artsakh. Among the civilian population, four were killed, including a child, as well as wounded, "Tatoyan said. In this context, he recalled that today the enemy's strikes were also inflicted on the Armenian settlement. In addition, the Human Rights Defender noted that targeted attacks from the enemy are also applied to vital facilities, including communications infrastructure, roads, etc. "These strikes are of a systemic nature," he stressed. Arman Tatoyan also said that he was informed that Armenia had filed a claim with the European Court of Human Rights against Azerbaijan. He noted that at this stage the Human Rights Defender is not involved in this process. "In the course of the case, we can discuss the involvement of a third party in this process, and then we will be able to clearly express our position on this issue," the Ombudsman concluded.
In conclusion, Tatoyan said that the Office of the Ombudsman works in a special regime and is in every minute communication with the Office of the Ombudsman of Artsakh, the civil population, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and the Parliament of Armenia. "I want to note that this joint work is of great importance, since it provides an opportunity to respond promptly to all questions and situations," he stressed.
