ArmInfo. The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus on the situation around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict caused hysteria in Baku.
Thus, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry called this statement "biased and one-sided."
Earlier, the Cypriot Foreign Ministry in a statement expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and condemned Azerbaijan's violation of the ceasefire, which led to violent clashes that resulted in civilian casualties.
"We call on all parties to show restraint and put an end to hostilities, for the earliest possible de-escalation of the situation," the Cyprus Foreign Ministry said.
The Foreign Ministry also recalled that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Nikos Christodulidis on September 27 held a telephone conversation with his colleague from Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, during which he was informed about the current situation. "For his part, Christodulidis expressed to his Armenian counterpart the support of the Cypriot government in efforts to peacefully settle disputes on the basis of international law within the framework of the negotiation process under the auspices of the Minsk Group and condemned any actions of the interested parties and the interference of third parties," the statement said.
