ArmInfo. Both Armenia and Azerbaijan should know that Georgia cannot support any side of the conflict, - former State Minister of Georgia Paata Zakareishvili said this in the <Newsroom> program on the <Palitranews> TV channel.
According to him, this conflict will not directly affect the territory of Georgia. "If the confrontation between Armenia and Azerbaijan develops into a wider regional conflict, this means that the conflict will go beyond Karabakh, not far from Georgia, but I am almost sure that this will not directly affect the territory of Georgia. In Georgia, I am sure, this issue is being discussed somewhere in the offices, but, unfortunately, it does not go directly in the Security Council, because we really do not have a Security Council, it does not function, "Paata Zakareishvili said.
At the same time, he explained that Georgia is the only state in the region that has no interest in this confrontation.
"Georgia is doing more or less right so far. We say unequivocally and clearly that we have two strategic neighbors, Turkey and Azerbaijan, but we have a very good-neighborly attitude towards Armenia. On this basis, both Armenia and Azerbaijan should know that Georgia cannot take sides. They should also understand that Georgia is the only state in the region that has no interest in this confrontation other than peace. Any step we take in support of someone will confuse the situation even more and I think they understand this very well, "Zakareishvili said.
According to the former state minister, the confrontation between Armenia and Azerbaijan will last 4-5 days.
