ArmInfo.Ombudsman of Armenia Arman Tatoyan sent a special address to the UN Human Rights Council on the human rights situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, caused by the large-scale aggression of Azerbaijan that began yesterday, accompanied by shelling of civilians by air and artillery forces.
According to the Ombudsman's Office, this is a special procedure, and only national human rights institutions with international "A" status have this opportunity.
"The addres has been sent to other international structures. The address contains facts and photographs about the aggression. It is indicated that the life and health of children, women, elderly people, the entire civilian population, their property, schools and other civilian objects are under threat.
We continue cooperation and direct communication with the Ombudsman of Artsakh, as well as with the Armenian population of Artsakh, who appeal to the defender of human rights of Armenia, "the message of Office of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Armenia reads.
