ArmInfo. MP from the "My Step" faction Gayane Abrahamyan, who today announced her intention to lay down her lawmaker's mandate, explained the reasons for her leaving on her Facebook page.
The MP, in particular, noted that this decision was given to her with difficulty, but the principles are more important for her. "I understood that by receiving the lawmaker's mandate, I was taking on a huge responsibility. But, I considered the lawmaker's mandate as a means to solve problems and implement the large-scale reforms announced by us, otherwise the powers and status will become an end in itself, which is unacceptable for me, "Abrahamyan noted.
She emphasized that she was never afraid of responsibility, and when receiving the lawmaker's mandate, she realized that political decisions would be made that would be difficult for her to come to terms with. "However, we all, in the course of our activities, draw a red line, crossing which it will become obvious that status is an end, not a means. For years, I fought as a journalist to establish justice and the rule of law in our country, and as a MP, these factors were my priority," the MP noted.
Abrahamyan stated that during her 20 months of work as a MP, she and other MPs have passed a difficult and very important path. According to her, in the course of her activities, she defended the rights of citizens who lost their property from Northern Avenue, fought for the protection of the rights of women and children, and for creating conditions for solving the problems of citizens of the country.
"As the head of the Armenian delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, and as the head of the Armenia-Czech Republic friendship group, I did my best to develop inter-parliamentary relations with the EU countries in both bilateral and multilateral formats. I forged new contacts, representing the state interests of Armenia and the problems of Artsakh through numerous diplomatic channels. In this area, I have achieved success, "the MP noted. In conclusion, Abrahamyan thanked the citizens of the country for their votes and for their trust. She noted that she is convinced that the velvet non-violent revolution is one of the significant pages in the history of Armenia.
To note, earlier, two MPs from the "My Step" faction, Arsen Julfalakyan and Armen Pambukhchyan, resigned. Olympic medalist, wrestler, Julfalakyan said that he was leaving because of contradictions with the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan, and Pambukhchyan said that he intends to move to work in the executive branch.
