ArmInfo. The oath of the newly elected judges of the Constitutional Court took place this morning in the National Assembly of Armenia. The parliamentary correspondent of ArmInfo reports this.
The first to take the oath was the candidate nominated by the president, Artur Vagharshyan. However, the latter first made a short speech. Vagharshyan thanked the President of Armenia for the fact that the latter had nominated him for the position of a candidate for a judge of the Constitutional Court. He also thanked the parliament for their confidence. After that, the judge of the Constitutional Court, Edgar Shatiryan, nominated by the government, took the oath.
Note that today in the courtroom for unknown reasons there was no judge nominated by the General Assembly of Judges Yervand Khundkaryan. His absence was not commented on.
To remind, on September 15, the Armenian parliament elected three judges of the Constitutional Court. Edgar Shatiryan, Yervand Khundkaryan and Artur Vagharshyan. Note that the opposition parliamentary factions of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and the Enlightened Armenia Party refused to take part in the voting procedure, thereby declaring a boycott. Formally. This decision was made due to the fact that none of the candidates wanted to meet with the opposition, which, in turn, did not ask any of them about it. Moreover, the PAP representatives considered the entire procedure initiated by the ruling party around the Constitutional Court not constitutional.
