ArmInfo. The head of the counting parliamentary commission Vahagn Hovakimyan announced the results of today's secret ballot of deputies on the election of three new judges of the Constitutional Court. The parliamentary correspondent of ArmInfo reports this.
Hovakimyan said that 88 MPs participated in the voting. Out of 88 ballots on the candidacy of Yervand Khundkaryan, nominated by the General Council of Judges, 2 ballots were declared invalid, 84 people voted <for>, 2 <against>.
86 deputies voted for the candidate nominated by the RA President Artur Vagharshyan, 1 against, 1 ballot paper was declared invalid.
85 people voted "for" the candidate from the government Edgar Shatiryan, "against" 3 deputies. Thus, all candidates have been elected to the position of judges of the Constitutional Court. Note that the opposition parliamentary factions of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and the Enlightened Armenia Party refused to take part in the voting procedure, thereby declaring a boycott. Formally. This decision was made due to the fact that none of the candidates wanted to meet with the opposition, which, in turn, did not ask any of them about it. Moreover, the representatives of the PAP considered the entire procedure initiated by the ruling party around the Constitutional Court not constitutional.
