ArmInfo. Chairman of the Court of Cassation, candidate for the position of judge of the Constitutional Court Evrand Khundkaryan on the issue of reforming the judicial system promoting the use of more conservative positions and considered the idea of creating a Supreme Court on the basis of the merger of the Constitutional and Cassation Courts incorrect.
From the rostrum he noted that these courts are very different in their tasks. "I believe that such a merger could lead to a number of problems. Drastic actions in such cases can only harm. It seems to me that it would be more correct to solve the problems that exist in the judiciary or in the work of these courts, but for now refrain from structural changes, "said the head of the Court of Cassation. Touching upon his nomination for the post of judge of the Constitutional Court, Khundkaryan stated that he had been trying to prove by his example all his life that the position is not an end in itself. <I tried to show that a judge should not hold on to his office. If you can be useful in one area or another, then you need to do just that, to prove yourself in the area where you are really needed, "the Court of Cassation allowed.
When asked whether pressure was exerted on Khundkaryan by the previous authorities, the head of the Court of Cassation, that this was not the case. "If pressure was exerted on me, we raised this issue to the Supreme Judicial Council," he resolved.
