ArmInfo. The Tavush military operations that unfolded in July this year became a test of parliamentary diplomacy, we overcame this test with honor. MP Viktor Yengibaryan stated this at a press conference.
He noted that the MPs cooperate with their colleagues from different countries, are represented at various international parliamentary platforms. "We immediately began to raise this issue at all international parliamentary platforms. As you understand, in this situation it is very important to notify our colleagues about everything that is happening, to present our position on this issue," Yengibaryan stressed. The MP noted that the whole world was informed about the Azerbaijani aggression.
"Parliamentary diplomacy is quite flexible. We can present to our colleagues both the positions of individual MPs and the position of the Republic of Armenia. In this matter, I consider it very positive that all our colleagues from different countries have learned about what actually happened in Tavush," he said.
Yengibaryan noted that it was very important to inform international colleagues not only about Azerbaijan's behavior, but also about Turkey's position in connection with this issue. "Turkey today is involved in a number of problems with other European countries, in particular, in the Aegean Sea. It is very important for us to show that Ankara is behaving very inadequately in our region as well," the MP stressed.
The latter also stated that Turkey has shown itself as an interested party in the Karabakh conflict. "It became obvious to everyone that Turkey is not an impartial party in the Karabakh conflict. Moreover, Ankara supports everything starting from Baku," the MP noted.
Yengibaryan also stated that an achievement is the fact that the MEPs stated that they call on the Azerbaijani authorities to apply the mechanism proposed by the OSCE to investigate violations of the ceasefire regime. "As you know, we constantly had conflicts on this basis. Azerbaijan accused us of violating the ceasefire regime, and we blamed them. In order to stop such accusations, it is necessary to conduct an investigation," he stressed. The MP also noted that the entire international community understands that Armenia is not interested in provoking conflicts on the border.
