ArmInfo. The term of the state of emergency ends in Armenia on September 11 at 5:00 pm. The state of emergency will be replaced by a quarantine regime.
To note, on September 4 the National Assembly of Armenia in the second and final reading adopted a package of bills into the law "On ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological safety of the population of the Republic of Armenia". To recall, it is aimed at using the quarantine regime instead of the state of emergency.
According to this bill, in case of the spread of infectious diseases in the country, or in case of an emergency in Armenia, at the suggestion of the Ministry of Health, a quarantine regime may be introduced by the governor or mayor of the capital.
As RA Deputy Minister of Justice Rafik Grigoryan noted in his speech, some amendments were made to the draft law presented in the second reading. In particular, immunoprophylactic measures cannot be applied without the consent of the citizen, and the study of the circle of persons in contact with the virus carrier persons should be limited to the incubation period. In addition, some of the wording has been changed.
The Deputy Ministestressed that with the adoption of a package of bills, the introduction of the current security measures will continue. This applies to wearing masks, maintaining social distance, hand hygiene, restrictions on public events, and so on. If the restrictive measures change, the government will inform the public about it. It was also noted that the draft law does not contain a prohibition or restriction on holding elections.
