ArmInfo. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, who spends part of his vacation abroad, met in London with Wendy Morton, Minister of State for European and American Affairs of the British Foreign Office.
As reported by the press service of the RA President, issues related to the development and deepening of cooperation between the two countries were discussed at the meeting.
Morton informed that next year the UK plans to host the 26th Climate Change Summit (COP26), in which Armenia is also expected to participate.
The Minister inquired about Armenia's approaches to climate change problems, in response to which, Sargsyan noted that he has always been a supporter of the "green" approach, and has always pointed and continues to point out the importance of the environment. In this context, the Armenian President spoke about his idea of creating in Tsitsernakaberd, on the territory of the Armenian Genocide memorial complex, the Hay Park national park, which will be aimed at increasing the green spaces of Yerevan.
Sargsyan also presented a number of other presidential initiatives. Referring in particular to ATOM (Advanced Tomorrow), he noted that within the framework of this initiative aimed at the development of science and new technologies in Armenia, great attention will be paid, in particular, to artificial intelligence, mathematical modeling, digital data management and a number of others. spheres. Informing about a preliminary agreement on cooperation with a number of large companies of the world, such as IBM, Siemens, Thales, Dassault, Safran, Leonardo, as well as with well-known universities and research centers within the framework of the initiative, the President of Armenia added that they would be glad to cooperate with British companies, universities and research centers.
The RA President also touched upon the 6th STARMUS International Festival to be held in Armenia next year, the annual "Armenian Thought Summit" and invited Morton to take part in these events.
