ArmInfo.MPs from the Bright Armenia faction Ani Samsonyan and Gevorg Gorgisyan issued a warning to Lydian Armenia.
The party's statement notes that earlier the company circulated a message that Samsonyan and Gorgisyan allegedly encouraged illegal actions in Amulsar. The message was also accompanied by a video recording of the meeting of Samsonyan and Gorgisyan with the defenders of Amulsar, which took place on September 6. "It should be noted that the lawmakers of Armenia vowed, in the name of achieving national goals, to faithfully fulfill their obligations to the people, to abide by the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Armenia. According to the RA Constitution, a lawmaker represents the people, is not constrained by an imperative mandate, is guided by his conscience and convictions. We confirm that the MPs are called upon to protect the interests of the RA citizen and the rule of law in the RA. No organization can threaten an RA citizen to defend his vital interests, to fight against a possible threat to his life and safety. No organization can show disrespect to the RA Police. No organization can exploit the national wealth of the RA without taking into account the wishes of its exclusive owner - the state and the people.
Each organization can defend its interests only in accordance with the law, respecting the rights and freedoms of others.
Stating the above, we call on the Lydian Armenia company to refrain from attempts to distort, discredit and thereby hinder the work of the RA lawmakers. The company's tools of lies and slander will not help improve the situation, "the statement reads.
To recall, on the night of September 7, clashes took place in Amulsar, during which, according to eyewitnesses, a police officer was injured. Green activists blame the incident on the new security company Lydian Armenia, whose employees used force against the defenders of Amulsar. Meanwhile, Lydian Armenia claims that in reality it was Amulsar's defenders who illegally entered the mine.
The total cost of the Amulsar project is $ 370 million. The life of the deposit is 10 years and 4 months, with an average annual production of 200 thousand ounces of gold planned. To note, Lydian Armenia is a subsidiary of the British offshore Lydian International. Environmentalists and ordinary citizens are concerned that the operation of the mine may lead to the pollution of the mineral underground waters of Jermuk and Lake Sevan. In addition to the water basin, the public is also concerned about the possible presence of uranium manifestations at the deposit.
Environmentalists and activists demand to invalidate the positive conclusion on the EIA project, since it was adopted with legal violations, and the document itself contains problems and shortcomings. Earlier, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced the completion of its participation in the development project of the Amulsar field.
