ArmInfo. On September 7, in the evening in front of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, another protest action started, demanding the resignation of Minister Arayik Harutyunyan.
This time, the organizers decided not to aggravate the situation with fights with the police, urging those present to maintain social distance and wear masks. To note, earlier, due to the fact that some protesters did not wear masks, there were incidents with the participation of law enforcement agencies, calling for the observance of security measures.
An interesting feature of the protest was the reading of patriotic poems. As noted, today's action is not political in nature, but is aimed at preserving national values. At the same time, it was indicated that <superminister> Harutyunyan does not have the necessary experience and does not correspond to the position held, and the decisions taken by the Ministry are aimed at destroying the educational system. In particular, the works of a number of contemporary Armenian writers were read, which are planned to be included in the school curriculum. It was noted that they contain scenes of violence, alcoholism, as well as slang, which the protesters called unacceptable.
The protesters have repeatedly substantiated their demand for resignation by reducing the hours of the school subject "Armenian language", as well as removing the subject "History of the Armenian Church" from the curriculum. In addition, their dissatisfaction is caused by the earlier ratified Lanzarote Convention, the provisions of which, in their opinion, oblige the inclusion of sex education in the school curriculum.
