ArmInfo. Belarus has not applied to the CSTO for help in connection with the internal political situation in the country. On September 2, during a briefing in Yerevan, the Spokesperson of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan stated this clarifying how Yerevan will act if Minsk turns to the CSTO for help in connection with the internal political situation.
The representative of the Armenian Foreign Ministry stated that the CSTO clearly defines the mechanisms of mutual assistance within the organization, and all subsequent regulations. "However, there were no appeals from Belarus. Therefore, we consider it premature to say anything about this," Naghdalyan concluded.
To note, mass opposition protests began throughout Belarus on August 9, after the presidential elections, in which, according to the CEC, incumbent head of state Alexander Lukashenko won 80.1% of the vote.
