
ArmInfo. From August 31 to September 1, 23 cases of alcohol poisoning were registered in Armenia, including 11 fatal cases. This was reported by the press service of the RA Ministry of Health.
According to the source, 17 out of 23 cases (8 of which were fatal outcome) were registered in the Armavir region with the use of non-factory vodka. The remaining 6 cases were registered in Yerevan, 3 were fatal outcome. All the victims used medical alcohol.
The victims were taken to various medical centers of the republic: 3 to Armavir MC (3 - died), 17 to Armenia MC (8 - died), 2 -to University clinic ь1, 1 to Erebuni MC.
Of the 12 patients, 3 are in critical condition, including 2 are on artificial respiration, 3 are in serious condition, 2 are of moderate severity, 2 people are still without clinical manifestations. Another 1 refused medical assistance in writing and was discharged from the medical center. Currently, work is underway to identify the circle of people who have consumed low-quality alcohol and take preventive measures.
Earlier today it was reported that the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia for the Armavir region continues a preliminary investigation into a criminal case initiated on the fact of the poisoning of residents of the city of Armavir. According to the IC, it turned out that a number of residents of the city of Armavir purchased an alcoholic drink of unknown origin, which did not meet the requirements of the safety of life and health of consumers, as a result of which they were poisoned. As a result of the measures taken, a resident of the city of Armavir, Ashot Hovsepyan, born in 1970, was detained on suspicion of selling goods that do not meet safety requirements. Operational measures are being taken to detect another 30 liters of alcoholic beverages purchased by citizens, as well as to establish the identity of all buyers. "We urge all those citizens who bought alcohol from the aforementioned person not to use it and contact the Investigation Department of the Armavir region of the RA Investigative Committee," the message says.
According to the Food Safety Inspectorate, according to preliminary information, home-made vodka was the cause of the mass poisoning. According to the preliminary version and symptoms of poisoning, we are talking about methyl alcohol poisoning.
