ArmInfo. On August 31, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh Masis Mayilian received Regional Director of The HALO Trust international non-governmental organization Nick Smart, outgoing Program Manager Robert Syfret, and newly appointed Artsakh Program Manager Miles Hawthorn.
As the press service of Artsakh MFA reports,Robert Syfret introduced his successor Miles Hawthorne to Foreign Minister Masis Mayilian and expressed his gratitude to the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh for cooperation and their support of the organization's humanitarian demining mission. Regional Director of The HALO Trust international NGO Nick Smart briefed the Foreign Minister on the details of The HALO Trust's humanitarian demining activities in Artsakh and its future programs.
The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between The HALO Trust and the relevant state structures of Artsakh.
The HALO is a non-political and non-religious registered British charity and American non-profit organization which removes debris left behind by war, in particular land mines. HALO is an acronym for Hazardous Area Life-Support organization. Founded by Member of the British Parliament and former Colonel of the British Army Colin Campbell Mitchell in 1988. Diana, Princess of Wales, in January 1997, worked with the HALO Trust on its global campaign to end the production of antipersonnel mines (Diana wore a body armor with the HALO-TRUST emblem during her trip to Angola).
