ArmInfo. Representatives of the Kurdish community of Armenia are holding a protest action in front of the UN office in Yerevan. ArmInfo correspondent reports this from the scene.
The aim of the protesters is to draw the UN's attention to Turkey's actions against Kurdish settlements in Iraq. "The Turkish authorities are pursuing a policy that is dangerous for all the peoples of the region. Turkey has invaded Iraqi territory and is bombing the country's civilian population, especially people of Kurdish origin. Applying such a policy, the Turkish authorities will not be able to live in peace with the peoples of the region. The Kurds want only one thing - to live in peace on the territory of Syria, Iraq, Turkey and Iran, to speak their own language. Turkey makes the leaders of other states silent with the language of threats and blackmail. It is impossible to be silent in such a situation, "said one of the protesters.
To note, on June 17, the Turkish Armed Forces in the north of Iraq began to carry out Operation Tiger Claw. Turkish planes attacked some of the bases belonging to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (KWP). In turn, official Baghdad "in the strongest terms condemned the violation of the country's sovereignty by the Turkish forces through bombing and attacks on targets within our international borders."
