ArmInfo. The longest reversible cable car in the world "Wings of Tatev" (5752 m) announces the launch of a special offer for schoolchildren and children in orphanages, who are provided with free travel on the cable car. The offer is valid from 25 August to 15 September inclusive.
According to the press service of IDeA, children will get an indelible impression of the magnificent mountain landscapes, panoramas of the Vorotan gorge, above which the cabins of the air highway leading to the Tatev monastery complex soar.
On the eve of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the "Wings of Tatev" schoolchildren and children from orphanages will also be able to visit one of the most famous spiritual, cultural and educational centers in Armenia - the Tatev Monastery Complex (IX century). "This will become not only an exciting journey and wonderful leisure for schoolchildren, but also immersion in the history, culture, religious and educational traditions of Armenia. To increase domestic tourism, this year we are using various special offers. So, in July we announced a special offer for visitors who received 4 tickets for the price of 3. This in particular increased the number of family trips to Tatev, "said Vahe Baghdasaryan, director of Wings of Tatev.
The sharp decline in tourist traffic due to the coronavirus pandemic this year requires additional funding from the founders to cover operating costs. However, Wings of Tatev continues to fly and offer attractive packages for passengers.
The Wings of Tatev cable car, entered in the Guinness Book of Records, has been operating since 2010. It is one of the modern attractions in Armenia, contributing to the development of local infrastructure and stimulating both domestic and international tourism. Over the past 10 years, about 1 million visitors have used its services.
"Wings of Tatev" were built within the framework of the "Revival of Tatev" program, which is also aimed at the restoration of the Tatev monastery complex and the development of neighboring communities. The aerial tram is an example of venture philanthropy in which the donor does not expect a return on the money invested. The project generates income from its own activities, which covers all operating costs. In addition, the proceeds from the use of the tourism infrastructure are used for the reconstruction of the Tatev Monastery, as well as various community development initiatives.
The Tatev Revival program is implemented by the Tourism and Urbanism Charitable Foundation (TUF), which since July 2020 has been implementing all the tourism programs of the Initiatives for Development of Armenia (IDeA) Foundation. The TUF program portfolio also includes development projects for Dilijan, Gyumri, Artsakh and Yerevan. The Foundation develops innovative programs in the fields of tourism and urban development, contributing to sustainable regional development and positioning Armenia in the world as a competitive tourism destination.
