ANCA expects US humanitarian aid to Lebanon to reach the Armenian  community of the country

Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) expressed satisfaction with the quick the response of the Pentagon and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for the rapid delivery of more than $ 18 million of food and medical aid to Lebanon after the tragic  explosion on August 4 2020 in the capital of the country - Beirut.

ANCA is also encouraged that US Undersecretary of State for Political  Affairs David Hale announced that the Trump administration is working  with Congress to urgently provide Lebanon with $ 30 million in grain.   "ANCA is in direct contact with high-ranked officials. 

By the US State Department to stimulate a vigorous US humanitarian  response to the explosion that shook Beirut more than two weeks ago.  We are pleased that Deputy Secretary of State Hale, at the direction  of Secretary of State Pompeo and in cooperation with Defense Minister  Esper, is working to immediately deliver humanitarian aid worth more  than $ 48 million, "said ANCA Chairman Raffi Amparian.

ANCA also notes that within hours of the blast that killed and  injured hundreds of people in Beirut, including many Armenians, the  organization, along with thousands of its supporters, convinced  Congress and the Trump administration to provide an emergency package  to all Lebanese citizens. In a letter to Secretary of State Michael  Pompeo dated August 5, 2020, Ambaryan praised the administration's  immediate statements of solidarity with the people of Lebanon and  urged them to work with USAID, the UN, and Armenian philanthropic  groups to ensure that US and international aid reaches all vulnerable  groups. In addition, ANCA, in close collaboration with the Armenian  Relief Society, held meetings with the US State Department to ensure  that US humanitarian efforts reach all risk groups in Lebanon,  including the Armenian community affected by the blast.
